On Friday, July 19th, at 9PM, in the venue Between Churches, with the concert of the violinist Roman Simović and the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra, the music programme of the “Theatre City” will continue. This concert is once again the product of the collaboration with the Montenegrin Music Centre.
Roman Simović’s virtuosity on the violin combined with the talent for music that comes almost naturally, have opened the doors for him on all four continents. Many of the world’s greatest stages such as the Carnegie Hall in New York and the “Bolshoi Hall” of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, have been a witness to his powerful performances. Being honored the awards at manifold international competitions such as: the Premio Rodolfo Lipizer (Italy), the Sion-Valais (Switzerland), the Yampolsky Violin Competition (Russia) and the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (Poland), he has earned himself a rightful place amongst the most distinguished violinists of his generation.
His work as a soloist includes the striking performances with some of the world’s leading orchestras: the London Symphony Orchestra, the “Teatro Regio” Torino, the “Franz Liszt” Chamber Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the “Mariinsky Theatre” Symphony Orchestra and more. Some of his famous collaborations ,however, are the ones amongst which are those with the world-renowned artists such as: Leonidas Kavakos, Evgeny Kissin, Yuja Wang and Antoine Tamestit and the conductors Valery Gergiev, Antonio Pappano in addition to many others.
Simović has been holding the position of a London Symphony Orchestra’s concert master since 2010 whilst performing on 1709 Antonio Stradivari violin that he was loaned by Jonathan Moulds. This time Simović joins his artistic forces with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra that has held over five hundred concerts in the region and abroad (Italy, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Russia, Turkey, Albania, France) and has been accompanied by the prominent conductors and soloists. What is important to emphasize is that the conductor of the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra starting from 2023/2024 is to be a renowned French artist of Montenegrin roots-Marc Korović and that the melodies of various stylistic features, from Baroque music and contemporary artistic creations to the works of the regional authors, are a part of the orchestra’s repertoire.
“The Four Seasons” by Antonio Vivaldi and Astor Piazzolla’s “Four Seasons in Buenos Aires” will be performed at the “Theatre City” concert this year.
