Last night, on the stage between the Churches in Budva’s Old Town, the drama program of the 37th“Theatre City” festival began with the performance of “Brawling in Chioggia” by Carlo Goldoni, directed by Ana Tomović.
The play is a production of the National Theater in Belgrade, where has been a premiere at the beginning of this month on the “Raša Plaović” stage.
After the performance in Budva, the director Ana Tomović said that she was especially glad that
the set design blended well with the environment.
“The impressions are great, I think we hit the atmosphere of this space between the churches and that contributed a lot to the whole play. The actors tried to get into the game, and the audience could hear everything, because it was an open environment. It seems to me that everything reached the audience, I saw that they did react very nicely and that the reactions are really good…” said Tomović.
Hadži Nenad Maričić, the actor, won all the sympathy of the audience during the performance of the play.He revealed that even in the course of first rehearsals, they concluded not much argument was needed for such a play.
“Just like one shouldn’t argue about the meaning and beauty of a rose, simply, one should enjoy its fragrance. The audience also enjoys this play and only after some time realizes the deep messages of what Goldoni wanted to say with this act”, Maričić pointed out and recalled that many years ago he played in the play “Brawlingin Chioggia”at the festival “Theatre City”.
