The art program of the 37thTheatre City festival started: Continuation of the successful cooperation with the National Museum of Montenegro
With the opening of the exhibition “Teachers and Scholars of the Hercegnov Art School – from the funds of the National Museum of Montenegro”, the art program of the 37th “Thetare City” festival, which was organized in cooperation with the National Museum of Montenegro, began last night in the church of Santa Maria in Punta.
The opening speech was given by Svetlana Ivanović, Editor–in–Chief of the festival’s program, pointing out that there are two reasons why the Council of the PI“Thetare City” decided to realize this particular exhibition.
“The first reason is the very successful cooperation with the National Museum of Montenegro, which proved to be fruitful, primarily due to the fact that, thanks to the employees of the National Museum, we have the opportunity to show part of the Montenegrin art wealth here in Budva. On the other hand, we are continuing the Mediterranean story that we started in 2017, since this time we opted to show the works of a school that, for 20 years it was in operation, was a phenomenon because all the eminent artists of the second half of the 20th century mostly graduated from this school”, Ivanović pointed out.
The exhibition was officially opened by curator Snežana Ivović, who stated that the famous art school in Herzegovina took a special place in the development of post-war Montenegrin art. The exhibition features the works of Miodraga Dada Đurića, Vojislava Voja Stanića, Branka Filipovića Fila, Uroša Toškovića, Mirka Kujačića, Jovana Jova Ivanovića, Maria Maskarelija, Luke Berberovića, Đorđa Pravilovića, Kemala Ramujkića, Luke Tomanovića, Draga Đurovića, Milenka Žarkovića, Moma Vukovića, Danice Danje Đurović, Vojislava Voja Tatara i Miloša Vuškovića.
The exhibition will be open until the 20th of August.
