-The opening- night of the play Nadpop Kojovi\u0107<\/em><\/strong>, written and directed by Vida Ognjenovi\u0107 and co-produced by the \u201cTheatre City\u2019\u2019 Budva and City Theatre Podgorica, to be held in the venue KIC \u201cBudo Tomovi\u0107\u2019\u2019 (Podgorica)-<\/p>\n

The writer-director of the play Nadpop Kojovi\u0107,<\/em><\/strong> Vida Ognjenovi\u0107, had complete freedom while writing it. Having been commissioned by the \u2018\u2019Theatre City\u2019\u2019 to write about a prominent person from Budva, significant for its history and culture, as a part of the project for nurturing the cultural heritage the author chose Antun Kojovi\u0107.Realizing that the conventions of the theatre nowadays are different and need to be taken into account, the author tailored the text so as to implement something that represents Budva\u2019s cultural heritage into contemporary theatrical forms.<\/p>\n

What is important to mention are Antun Kojovi\u0107\u2019s chronicles of Budva.These chronicles encompass the various periods that Budva went through during its history and without them many of the details significant for its history would be long lost by<\/p>\n

now. In addition, Antun Kojovi\u0107 was of importance when it came to fostering the need for culture in his people and was a patron of the arts in his time.<\/p>\n

When explaining the reasons for choosing to write about Antun Kojovi\u0107, Vida Ognjenovi\u0107,the writer-director of the play, says \u201cHe was \u00a0a sort of a mirror of his time because he was so close and dedicated to his town and country. However, he was also so different from it. These two qualities combined allow for the viewer to \u00a0\u00a0get the general sense of the situation in the neighboring regions, all through the lens of\u00a0 \u00a0a mind not ordinary in any respect\u2019\u2019. Where all the before-mentioned fits into the story of contemporary theatrical forms is that \u201ca men is represented as an inventor that eventually falls victim to that same inventions\u2019\u2019. \u201cArt remains the only shelter from the banality and a myriad of problems that the society faces nowadays\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

The play Nadpop Kojovi\u0107<\/em><\/strong>, the co-production of the \u201cTheatre City\u2019\u2019 Budva and City Theatre Podgorica, will be performed in Podgorica (venue KIC \u2019\u2019Budo Tomovi\u0107\u2019\u2019).The opening-night \u00a0of the play will be Monday the nineteenth of February and the first rerun is scheduled for the twentieth of February.<\/p>\n

Along\u00a0 with\u00a0 Vida\u00a0 Ognjenovi\u0107, the\u00a0 writer-director\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 play, other\u00a0 members\u00a0 of\u00a0 the\u00a0 creative\u00a0 team\u00a0 are: Vladislava\u00a0 Cunnington (scenography), Marija\u00a0 Papu\u010devska (costimography), Damjan\u00a0 Jov<\/p>\n

This project was supported by the Tourist Organization of Budva, through the \u201cCompetition for the Valorization of National Heritage Projects\u201d for 2022.<\/p>\n

The play Nadpop Kojovi\u0107<\/em><\/strong> will also premiere at the XXXVIII \u201cTheatre City\u2019\u2019 festival on the fifth of July 2024.<\/p>\n
