The XXXVIII \u201cTheatre City\u201d festival this year will be marked by \u00a0four premiers of its own productions and co-productions in the part of its programme relating to theatre.This will also represent \u00a0the closure of a long-lasting efforts spanning \u00a0from the\u00a0 exploration of new theatrical forms and finding appropriate means of \u00a0expression when honoring tradition \u00a0all the way to \u00a0the \u00a0marking of \u00a0an\u00a0 important jubilee.<\/p>\n
The play Nadpop Kojovi\u0107<\/em><\/strong>, the co-production of\u00a0 the\u00a0 JU \u201cTheatre City\u201d and the City Theatre\u00a0 Podgorica, will be performed during the opening-night ceremony of the XXXVIII \u201cTheatre City\u2019\u2019 festival edition on the fifth \u00a0of July, 2024<\/strong>. This way of honoring Budva\u2019s cultural heritage through theatre is a kind of personal \u00a0\u00a0signature of the director Vida Ognjenovi\u0107. She is also the author \u00a0of the authentic text written on the basis of the literary canon and life of Antun Kojovi\u0107,a distinguished individual from Budva.The reruns are scheduled for the<\/strong> sixth, seventh and eighth \u00a0\u00a0of July<\/strong> in the venue between the churches.<\/p>\n The play Svet mogu\u0107nosti<\/em><\/strong>, written and directed by Haris Pa\u0161ovi\u0107, the co-production of: the JU \u2019\u2019Theatre City\u201d, the Serbian National Theatre, the Sarajevo \u201cEast-West\u201d Centre and The Dance Academy \u2019\u2019Tala\u201d from Zagreb, will premiere in Budva on \u00a0the fourteenth \u00a0of July <\/strong>while the rerun is scheduled for the fifteenth of July<\/strong>. The play came to be as a result of the work on the project \u201cEnabled Theatre\u201d, co-financed by the European Union as a part of the \u201dCreative Europe Programme\u201d. One of the main aims of the project was to familiarize the viewers with and bring their attention to the life of the persons with disabilities through the artistic expression as well as with the implied statements made during the performance of the play.<\/p>\n The content of the play Nestvarni grad<\/em><\/strong> was inspired by Budva\u2019s heritage and its form is oriented towards subjective perception of the viewers who are also active participants in the play. It is one of the long-awaited festival projects. This unusual theatrical adventure will be realized in the form of a guided stride thanks to which every group of viewers will have a chance to witness this one of a kind artistic event. The text of the play was written on the basis of a documentary material, collected during a two-year period. The writer-director of the play is Vuk R\u0161umovi\u0107. The play will premiere at the end of June<\/strong> while its performance as a part of the theatre repertoire is scheduled for the twenty-seventh, twenty-eighth, twenty-ninth and the thirtieth of June<\/strong> and the sixteenth, seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth of August<\/strong> respectively.<\/p>\n The play Iza bo\u017ejih le\u0111a<\/em><\/strong> was conceived as a way of marking the 160th<\/sup> anniversary of the well-known comedy writer Branislav Nu\u0161i\u0107\u2019s birth and is realized according to the motives of his work of the same name. This is another instance where the \u201dTheatre City\u201d and the National Theatre of Sombor\u00a0 worked \u00a0closely together. The director of the play is Radivoje Ra\u0161a Andri\u0107 who, after a brilliant career as a movie director and screenwriter that has lasted for twenty years, goes back to directing for the theater again.
