On Saturday, August 17th<\/sup><\/strong>, in the venue Between Churches<\/strong> at 9M<\/strong>, the music programme of the \u201cTheatre City\u201d is to be continued with the concert entitled \u201cJazz Summit: in memory of\u00a0 Du\u0161ko Gojkovi\u0107 and Nikola Mimo Mitrovi\u0107<\/em>\u201d<\/strong>. Dragoslav Fredi Stanisavljevi\u0107, Marko \u00d0or\u0111evi\u0107, Corey Wilcox, Rastko Obradovi\u0107, Ljubomir Turajlija, Lazaro del Toro Vega, Milorad \u0160ule Jovovi\u0107, Sara Jovovi\u0107 <\/strong>and Martin \u00d0or\u0111evi\u0107<\/strong> are to perform at the concert. The special guest of the concert is \u017deljko Vasovi\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

As the concert\u2019s performers state: \u201cWe dedicate this evening to two truly great names in the domain of music. Of their greatness speaks the fact that even music encyclopedias were written about them. No matter how significant they were in the area of jazz music, they will also be remembered for their human simplicity, and the fact that they created music without being vain or egotistical. Despite the fact that they were true stars in their area of interest, they managed to keep that simplicity of heart. They acted like two music enthusiasts, just enjoying the beauty of music, and were both a living proof that music knows no boundaries. Their interest for, as well as entering into the world of jazz music, happened spontaneously. All that was despite the fact that one cannot deny the strong connection of jazz music specifically to America. It goes without saying that they became so brilliant as jazz musicians, that they managed to climb the jazz music ladder and surface to its very top. However influential they might have been on the global jazz scene, they both also made a great influence, each in their own way, on a jazz scene in Budva. That\u2019s why its no wonder that once again at the \u201cTheatre City\u201d festival, in the venue Between Churches, jazz is listened to and spoken of. The audience of the festival surely remembers that \u201cTheatre City\u201d has always been striving to nurture the jazz heritage, left to us by no other than Nikola Mimo Mitrovi\u0107. He was the one who instilled into this modest town the feeling for something so significant and great as jazz music. He was called the pioneer of Budva\u2019s jazz scene for a reason. In addition to that, he was the one who introduced the \u201cTheatre City\u201d to Du\u0161ko Gojkovi\u0107, and so this jazz trumpeter ,who was world-renowned, became a true and loving friend of the festival. We had a privilege to enjoy Du\u0161ko\u2019s virtuosity on the trumpet for many a summer.<\/p>\n

Tonight, we want to express our gratitude and remember not only Mimo Mitrovi\u0107 and Du\u0161ko Gojkovi\u0107, but a plethora of accomplished musicians of that generation. They gave us the knowledge of, and left us with love for and an important obligation to nurture the heritage of jazz music in order to preserve the tradition for which they had set the foundations.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with the compositions typical of jazz music, at the concert one will have a chance to listen to: the original compositions by Du\u0161ko Gojkovi\u0107 as well as the compositions of Du\u0161ko Gojkovi\u0107, Ivan Ili\u0107, Stjepko Gut and others composed in honor of Nikola Mimo Mitrovi\u0107.<\/p>\n

Jelena Ljumovi\u0107<\/strong> and Lazar Nikoli\u0107<\/strong> will talk the audience through the jazz world of Du\u0161ko Gojkovi\u0107, Nikola Mimo Mitrovi\u0107 and friends.<\/p>\n
