The play \u201cNo Woman\u2019s Land\u201d<\/em>, a production by the Theatre City<\/em>, developed in Budva through the Creative Europe<\/em> program, was performed on May 8 at the Theatro Circo<\/em> in the Portuguese city of Braga.<\/p>\n

A large and warm-hearted audience welcomed the artistic and production team of the Theatre City<\/em>, sending off the play \u201cNo Woman\u2019s Land\u201d<\/em> and Montenegrin actresses An\u0111elija Rondovi\u0107, Mirjana Spai\u0107, Milica Keki\u0107 Martinovi\u0107, Marija Lije\u0161evi\u0107, and Milica \u0160\u0107epanovi\u0107 with applause and ovations. Prior to the performance, a discussion with the authors was held, giving attendees an opportunity to learn about the creative process of the director and dramaturge in adapting the text of \u201cSko\u010di\u0111evojka\u201d(The Jumping girl)<\/em>, and thereby discover a part of Montenegro\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

The play \u201cNo Woman\u2019s Land\u201d<\/em>, inspired by the short story \u201cSko\u010di\u0111evojka\u201d (The Jumping girl)<\/em> by Stefan M. Ljubi\u0161a, directed by Laurent Berger and written by C\u00e1tia Fa\u00edsco<\/strong>,<\/strong> was presented as part of the Braga 2025 European Capital of Culture<\/em> program at Theatro Circo<\/em> \u2013 one of Portugal\u2019s most important cultural landmarks and a long-standing meeting point of art, culture, and community since 1915. The play will also be performed in the French city of Montpellier in early June, then at the theatre City<\/em> festival, and in October at the Bosnian National Theatre<\/em> in Zenica.<\/p>\n

In addition to \u201cNo Woman\u2019s Land\u201d<\/em>, from May 6 to 9 in Braga, the following plays were also presented: \u201cAlive\u201d<\/em>, written by A\u00efcha Euzet and directed by J\u00falio Cerdeira; \u201cA Beautiful Voice\u201d<\/em>, written by Ned\u017ema \u010cizmo and directed by Montenegrin director Minja Novakovi\u0107; and \u201cGo Out and Fight\u201d<\/em>, written by Montenegrin playwright Stela Mi\u0161kovi\u0107 and directed by Lajla Kaik\u010dija. These performances were the result of the project \u201cSexual Theatre \u2013 A Feminist Reading of Classics\u201d<\/em>, co-funded by the Creative Europe<\/em> program, in which the Public Institution Theatre City <\/em>\u00a0is a partner alongside the Bosnian National Theatre<\/em> in Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Faz Kultura<\/em> center in Braga (Portugal), and Paul Val\u00e9ry University<\/em> in Montpellier (France).<\/p>\n
