Petar Matović was born in Užice (Serbia) in 1978. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade- Department of Serbian with South Slavic Literatures. His literary canon includes poetry and essays. He published the following poetry collections: Kamerni komadi(1996)(Chamber Pieces), Odakle dolaze dabrovi(2013)(Where Do Beavers Come From), Iz srećne republike(2017)(From the Happy Republic), Ne hleb, već morfijum- izabrane pjesme (2019)(Not Bread but Morphine-Selected Poems).

His works can be found in all of the following periodicals: “Polja”(the Serbian literary magazine), “Letopis Matice Srpske”(the Serbian literary periodical), “Koraci”(the magazine for literature, art and culture), “Beogradski književni časopis”(the magazine for poetic research and activity), “Sarajevske sveske”(literary magazine), “Zarez”(the Croatian biweekly magazine for literature, culture and current affairs), “Književni magazin”(the Serbian periodical), Quorum(the Croatian periodical for literature), “Fragile”, “Portret”, “The Café Review”, “Fantom slobode”( the Croatian literary magazine).

His works are present in manifold anthologies and his songs translated into many foreign languages. For his poetry he has received the “Treći trg” award. His poetry collection Iz srećne republike(From the Happy Republic) brought him the prestigious award “Branko Miljković” in 2018.
