This year’s co-productions of the Theatre City – the plays Favoritism and A World of Possibilities, continue to live their theatrical life in the country and the region.
As part of the 29th Yugoslav Theatre Festival No Translation, the play Favoritism – based on the text by Branisalav Nušić and directed by Milan Nešković, will be performed in Užice on November 6. The play is a co-production of the Theatre City and the National Theatre in Sombor. This play first premiered in Budva on August 3, as part of the 38th Theatre City Festival, and after that in Sombor on September 26. In addition to this play’s premieres and its reruns by the co-producers, it was also performed at the National Theatre in Belgrade on the occasion of the 160th birth anniversary of Branislav Nušić at the event called Celebrating Nušić.
As part of the 20th International Festival of Actor in the Nikšić Theatre, the performance of the play A World of Possibilities, by the author and director Haris Pašović , was continued on the same day. The play was created as a joint project of the Public Institution Theatre City Budva, the East West Centre in Sarajevo, the Serbian National Theatre and the Tala dance centre in Zagreb.
The play has been performed in several countries so far, and it premiered in Budva on July 14 of this year as part of the 38th Theatre City Festival. We would like to remind you that this project was co-financed by the European Union, through the Creative Europe program for theatre projects which deal with the subject of the lives of children and youth with developmental disabilities.
The Radio Television of Vojvodina declared this play the best play as a whole at the 73rd Festival of Professional Theatres of Vojvodina, which took place in Subotica. The jury decided to award the best male role award to Aljoša Đidić, for the role of Boris, and the best male episodic role award to Milan Kovačević, for the role of Boris’s father in the same play.
Both plays will be performed as plays for competition at the two festivals mentioned above.
