The drama program of the 37thTheatre City festival continued last night with the play “Blood Wedding” by Federico Garcia Lorca, directed by Igor Vuk Torbica. It is a co-production of “Theatre City” from Budva and the Serbian National Theater from Novi Sad.
At the MIT festival in the Royal Theater “Zetski dom” in Cetinje, the play “Bloody Wedding” was acclaimed the best play. The play was also performed in front of a Slovenian audience at the 26th “Primorska Poletna” Festival in Koper, as well as at the “Bar Chronicle” and “Purgatory”. It was shown at the Biennial of the Montenegrin Theater in Podgorica, where Igor Vuk Torbica was awarded the award for best director, Varja Đukić for best female role, and Vladimir Pejković for best music. The author team of the play was also awarded the 2022 Biennale of Stage Design Award for the stage design of the play of the same name as a whole, which was presented to them during the Biennial of Stage Design held as part of the “Kaledioskope” program of the European capital of culture, Novi Sad. Numerous recognitions and awards led to this multi-awarded play continuing its theatrical life, despite the untimely passing of its director. In addition to Igor Vuk Torbica, the author’s team consists of Branko Hojnik, set designer, Jelisaveta Tatić Čuturilo, costume designer and Vladimir Pejković, composer.
