Ilija Ðurović was born in Podgorica in 1990. He has been living and working in Berlin since 2013. He writes poetry, prose, plays and movie scripts. He is the author of the following novels: They Do It So Beautifully in Those Great Romance Novels (a book of short stories, “Žuta kornjača” publishing company,2014), Black Fish (short stories, “Žuta kornjača” publishing company), Brid (the poetry collection for which he received the “Treći trg” award in 2018- (“Treći trg” is an organization founded in Belgrade in 2004 and is one of the leading publishers of contemporary poetry and prose in Serbia). His first novel Sampas has been shortlisted for the multiple prestigious literary competitions’ awards in the region: The “NIN” award, The “Meša Selimović” award and the “Dušan Vasiljev” and “Biljana Jovanović” awards. Now, the aforementioned novel  was nominated for the European Union Prize for Literature (for the year 2023).
