Vladan Matijević is the author of the following books: Ne remeteći rasulo (Don’t Disturb the Chaos) (poetry,1991), Van kontrole (Out of Control) (novel, 1995, new edition, 2021), R.C. Neminovno (R.C.Unavoidably)(novel, 1997, new edition, 2017), Samosvođenje (Self-Reduction) (poetry, 1999), Prilično mrtvi (Pretty Dead) (short stories, 2000, the “Ivo Andrić” award), Pisac izdaleka (Writer from Afar) (novel, 2003, “Ninova nagrada” award), Časovi radosti (Moments of Joy) (novel, 2006), Vrlo malo svetlosti (Very Little Light) ( novel, 2010, the “Meša Selimović”, “Borislav Stanković” and “Isidora Sekulić” awards), Memoari, amnezije: eseji, besede, beleške (Memoirs, Amnesias: Essays, Words, Notes) (essays, 2012, the “Kočićevo pero” i “Kočićeva knjiga” awards), Pristaništa (Ports) (short stories, “Stevan Sremac” and “Danko Popović” awards), Susret pod neobičnim okolnostima (Meeting Under Unusual Circumstances) (novel, 2016), Sloboda govora (Freedom of Speech) (novel, 2020) and Pokrac (novel, 2023, “Beogradski pobednik” award).
He was given an award “Ramonda Serbika” for his overall literary canon and the significant contribution to literature and culture in 2019. Furthermore, he has received “Zlatni krst kneza Lazara” award again for his overall literary canon. The play Sloboda govora (Freedom of Speech), written on the basis of Matijević’s novel of the same name, had its premiere at the Čačak City Theatre in 2023. His works have been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Macedonian.
