A panel of judges consisting of three members: Svetislav Bule Gončić (the head of the panel), Ðurđa Tešić and Željko Jovanović unanimously decided in a meeting held on March 26th, 2024 that a special prize for music should be awarded to the play Radovan III (Radovan the Third).
The credit for this success especially goes to Robert Pešut Manjifiko and Aleksandar Pešut Šac, the authors of the original music for the play. The play is directed by Vito Taufer and is the co-production of the “Theatre City” Budva and the National Theatre of Sombor.
When explaining the reasons behind their decision, the panel stated: “The authors of the music for the play had found a perfect balance between following both the main underlying idea of the text by Dušan Kovačević and the new viewpoint of the director Vito Taufer. Consequently, a completely new interpretation of Kovačević’s well-known dramatic text surfaced. The music also helped create a one of a kind atmosphere that the audience could feel during the entire play. In addition, it was a perfect reflection of the Sombor theatre ensemble authentic performance’’.
The play Radovan III (Radovan the Third) premiered at the XXXVII “Theatre City” festival. Anyone who hasn’t seen the play yet will have a chance to do so again at the XXXVIII edition of the festival during this summer.
