On Thursday, July 25th, beginning at 9PM, Eugene Ionesco’s The Bald Soprano, newly directed by Jagoš Marković, will be performed in the venue Between Churches. It is the production of the Culture Centre Tivat.
At the media conference concerning the premiere of the play, Jagoš Marković highlighted that what gave the characters an authentic new charm and specific charisma was the transferring of the play’s plot from London to the Bay of Kotor. What makes it relatable to the audience is that they are bound to recognize parts of themselves in the characters of the play. According to him, The Bald Soprano is a tale of absurdity and comedy simultaneously. “There is always unmistakably a dramatic element underneath a comic one in a play. It is no use now speaking in a serious manner about the play that is like that by nature, but I would like for the audience to laugh in the first place”-says Jagoš Marković.
Along with Jagoš Marković that stands behind the direction, text adaptation and the choice of music, the authorial team encompasses: Neven Staničić who is responsible for the translation of the text into the local Boka Bay dialect and stage speech, Marija Marković Milojev (costume design), Tara Lazarević Kisić (scenographer), Radomir Stamenković (light design).
Cast: Olga Odanović, Branko Vidaković, Dubravka Drakić, Momčilo Otašević, Sandra Bugarski, Branimir Popović.
