On Wednesday ,July 31st, in the venue Between Churches, the “Theatre City music programme will be continued with the concert in which “Four Seasons” will be performed by Dmitry Sinkovsky and the “Virtuozi” Orchestra. The special guest for the evening will be the flutist Ljubiša Jovanović.
Dmitry Sinkovsky
Dmitry Sinkovsky is a well-renowned artist born in Russia. His love for violin shone through early on, and he realized it was the life path he wanted to take. At the age of 5, he started perfecting the violin. However, while studying violin at the Moscow Conservatory, he realized that his dream of becoming an opera conductor would always lack something if he didn’t engage in vocal studies also. Therefore, he pursued this goal in addition to his studies in violin. It goes without saying that he was always of the opinion that one needs to be proficient in both an instrument and vocal peculiarities so as to become a successful opera conductor. He also graduated in choir conducting at the University of Zagreb’s Academy of Music, with Tomislav Fačini being his mentor.
His career faced an upward spiral from this point. Sinkovsky being widely sought by the famous orchestras such as: the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Radio Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra Dublin, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the National Spanish Orchestra, the Casa da Mùsica Orchestra (Porto), the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, “Musica Viva” Orchestra, Musica Aeterna , and that after having been a featured guest at Joyce DiDonato’s “Drama Queens” tour, was only a natural continuation of what was to become a stellar career.
He is a regular guest of many highly acclaimed venues like: “Carnegie Hall” New York, the “Barbican” Centre, “Concertgebouw” Amsterdam, Teatro La Fenice and others.
The “Virtuozi” Orchestra
In 2022, the Festival Orchestra and Choir “Virtuozi” was formed. The series of spectacular concerts in front of the large auditorium in Serbia, Montenegro and Slovenia as well as the performances with: Nigel Kennedy, Stefan Milenković, Bryn Terfel (baritone) and the conductor Charles Detoit has brought it many acknowledgments of the audience and critics. What is important to emphasize is that the ensemble established the high quality of performance by making recordings under maestro Bojan Suđić. They were released for the foreign market by the “New World Classic” recording company from Germany. The performance of “Virtuozi” and the violinist Nigel Kennedy at the “Belgrade Music Festival” was named the concert of the year in a survey conducted by the “Politika” magazine.
Ljubiša Jovanović
After obtaining his Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Belgrade with Miodrag Azanjac as his professor, he continued his pursuits which involved being the best at what he does. He took on the advanced training in Paris, professor Christian Lardé being his mentor. There he received the Diplome Superieur Concertiste (1983), at L’Ecole Normale Superieur de Musique de Paris. After that followed a long-standing collaboration with Aurele Nicolet. Ljubiša Jovanović has been a part of more than 1500 concerts in 37 countries all over the world. Furthermore, he has held more than 200 master classes.
Jovanović held the position of the solo flutist for twenty-five years at: the Belgrade Opera and Ballet Orchestra (1978-88), the Serbian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (1988-89) and the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra (1989-2004). He has been a full professor at the Faculty of Music Belgrade since 1993, while he held the same position at the University of Montenegro’s Music Academy from 1996 to 2014. Furthermore, from 2002 to 2009, he was the Vice-Dean for the Scientific and Artistic Work at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade. He is the founder and director of the “Camerata Serbica” Orchestra (2004) as well as the principal figure behind the “Belgrade New Art Territory” Festival. He has also been the Artistic Director of the “Lola Klasik” ensemble since 2010. Since 2015,however, he has been the Arts Director of the renowned international competition “Anton Eberst” (Novi Sad). The famous flautist was given the most prestigious “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the seventh International Flute Festival held at the City of Jindao in China (2024).
At the concert, the works of Corelli and Vivaldi will be performed.
The “Theatre-City” Press-Office
