After being successfully performed in the Portuguese city of Braga, the play “No Woman’s Land”, a project by the Public Institution “Theatre City”, continues its international journey. The play will be presented on June 10 and 11 in Montpellier, as part of the festival “Le Printemps des Comédiens”, one of the most prominent festivals in France.
This play addresses the position of women in society in a powerful, moving, yet humorous way, and was created as part of the project “Sexual Theatre – A Feminist Readings of Classics.” It is based on the short story “Skočiđevojka” (The Jumping Girl) by Stefan M. Ljubiša, directed by Laurent Berger, with the text adapted by Cátia Faísco.
The cast includes Montenegrin actresses: Anđelija Rondović, Mirjana Spaić, Milica Kekić Martinović, Marija Liješević, and Milica Šćepanović.
The international presentation of this play has been supported by the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro.
In addition to “No Woman’s Land,” several other plays will be presented in Montpellier between June 7 and 12, including “Alive” by Aïcha Euzet, directed by Júlio Cerdeira, “A Beautiful Voice” by Nedžma Čizmo, directed by Montenegrin director Minja Novaković, and “Go Out and Fight” by Montenegrin playwright Stela Mišković, directed by Lajka Kaikčija.
These plays were created as part of the project “Sexual Theatre – A Feminist Readings of Classics,” co-financed by the Creative Europe programme, in which the Public Institution “Theatre City” is a partner, along with the Bosnian National Theatre in Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the cultural center Faz Kultura in Braga (Portugal), and Paul Valéry University in Montpellier (France).
